About Me
Background
I am a scientist with over a decade of preclinical research experience spanning cell culture, rodent, and nonhuman primate models to answer translational questions relating to substances of abuse. Aside from my federal grant and peer-reviewed publications, I have experience drafting a variety of deliverables, including IACUC experimental protocols, NIH progress reports, pilot grants, literature reviews, abstracts, slide decks, posters, and application materials for awards. Through this work, I discovered that my favorite aspect of my job was drafting and polishing documents to simplify complicated science topics.
My research allows me to regularly engage with individuals across various scientific backgrounds, from leading meetings with experts in different fields to managing undergraduate research projects. I volunteer for STEM outreach organizations and teach a harm reduction-focused alcohol education program to UNC college students. Writing and speaking to diverse audiences has enriched my communication skills and solidified my interest in pursuing a medical writing career.
